Background

In 2004, Tom Block was working with a company based in Colorado that supplied IT services to the Dental Industry across the United States. Being the San Francisco Bay Area rep., Tom knew the rich resource of computer component distributors available locally and cost savings he could offer clients if he had more control over purchasing and network design. Tom enthusiastically developed a plan that would add value to clients and expand network security. Security and identity theft were emerging as huge concerns on networks that stored patient (personal) data.

As everything happens perfectly random, Tom ended up on his own and formed Block Data Systems, LLC (BDS) at the beginning of 2005.

Working with local distributors serving the local community is just one of the environmentally friendly standards BDS practices; continually exploring new technology that increases energy efficiency is another; most importantly, BDS focuses on the entire lifestyle of the computer, taking into consideration:
  • Manufacturing components in an energy efficient ‘green’ facility.
  • Improving efficiency of a computer’s power delivery and reducing the energy consumed when the computer is in an inactive state
  • Recycling and reusing parts - the ecological footprint
Privately funded and with a solid client base in the Dental Industry, BDS is developing partnerships with companies in the green business community. Our mission is to transform the publics' perception and buying habits of computer technology, shifting ideal to smaller is smarter.
